North River Recreation is urging parents of children who participated in a recent ‘trunk or treat’ event to throw out all candy obtained after a child became “incredibly ill” and admitted to the Janeway after eating factory-packaged candy.
The not-for-profit says they have no reason to believe that foul play is involved by anyone who was giving out treats as they were all parents of children in attendance.
They will be working with staff at the hospital to track the candy back to the stores, “and anything else required.”
They indicate that they are still in the process of contacting attendees.
