The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is reminding drivers to be extra cautious tonight as trick-or-treaters go door to door.
Police are asking the public to slow down in residential areas throughout the night.
Constable James Cadigan says trick-or-treaters should stay on the sidewalk, check treats before they’re consumed and wear bright and reflective clothing if possible.
He says any suspicious activity should be reported to police.
“The big focus that we have is on driving practices because the kids they’re excited they’re gonna be on the streets crossing the roads and they’re gonna be making the way around the community to trick-or-treat,” he said.
Cadigan says drivers are responsible for making their way around town safely by keeping speeds down and avoiding any distractions like cell phones.
