The opposition House leader is crying foul about what he calls a lack of transparency and accountability in light of serious concerns raised by the Registered Nurses Union.
The allegation is that NL Health Services managers “profited significantly” by renting houses to private agency travel nurses. However, Barry Petten says NLHS has confirmed that no staff will face discipline.
The leasing agreements were terminated because they were in violation of Conflict of Interest and Public Procurement legislation and are now part of a probe by the Auditor General.
Petten wants to know how a group of managers can “walk away scot-free.” And he’s calling for greater accountability.
