A Newfoundland and Labrador company says it was surprised to see one of their products make an appearance during a historic golf match, but they are grateful for the exposure.

Rory McIlroy won the Masters on the weekend, completing the coveted Grand Slam of Golf with victories in all four major championships.

Just before his victory, cameras caught him reaching for a Transparent Labs protein bar.

CEO John Williams says it was an “incredible surprise” for him and his team.

He says McIlroy takes his nutrition and training very seriously, so to see him eat one of their bars during such a “high stakes moment” was “validating and exciting.”

As for what’s next, Williams says for now they are just very grateful and appreciative of the golf star putting trust in their product.

He says they are going to try to get a thank you gift in McIlroy’s hands, and they will see what happens from there but there are no expectations.
