The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association has elected a new president.
Dale Lambe, who was vice-president for the past two years, will succeed current president Trent Langdon in August.
Lambe hails from Marystown and is the current principal of Villanova Junior High in C.B.S.
He was formally installed during the union’s biennial meetings this week following an online vote late last year.
Asked about his priorities for his coming term, he said the volatility in schools tops the list.
“Violence in education is definitely going to be something that we need to take on, and that’s going to require all parties, all departments to support what we need to have happen to alleviate some of those concerns in schools,” he said. “Once again, violence in the workplace contributes to overall apprehension about going into the profession, as well as challenges that disallow you from doing what your job is, which is to educate and teach.”
Lambe officially begins his two-year term as of August 1st.
