Parts of central Newfoundland are going to get an early blast of summer this week with temperatures in the upper 20s.
The forecast for parts of central is showing a high of 27 degrees on Thursday, and around 24 degrees on Friday.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says the hot weather is due to a warm air mass that is currently making its way over Ontario and Quebec.
While eastern and western portions of the island will see some warmth with temperatures capping at around 20 degrees, central will be the hot spot.
Neil says there is a potential for some records to be broken—particularly on Thursday. He says if they do see a high of 27 degrees that will set new daily records in several areas.)
Neil says the warm weather won’t stick around for long.
The temperatures in the mid 20s will only last a couple of days, but daily highs will be in the upper teens into early next week.
