An assessment of the damage wrought by a wildfire that ripped through Adam’s Cove on May 7th, destroying dozens of properties, continues.
Some residents who were left with nothing but the shirts on their backs are waiting on some kind of government assistance.
The Department of Public Safety says a group of volunteers known as Team Rubicon wrapped up its efforts in Adam’s Cove this week, sifting through the ash at six properties to help affected residents locate personal effects.
Some 95 so-called ‘danger’ trees were also removed.
Government says support is being made available to the town to help with the cleanup and the removal of hazards.
Discussions are ongoing about how best to support residents who have lost everything, and more information will be provided in the near future.
