A Botwood man living out his final days in St. John’s had a chance to be reunited with his best friend thanks to the generosity of friends and strangers.
Darren Crant’s dying wish was to see his dog Bella one last time. A group of dedicated volunteers jumped into action to make that wish come true.
Tammy Hoffe was among those trying to get the two old friends reunited.
She says Crant had Bella for the last six years, but was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago. Bella’s been taken care of by friend and dog sitter Janice Peaton while Crant underwent treatment, but the options have run out, and Crant just wants to see his old friend again.
Hoffe says Bella left for St. John’s yesterday to be reunited with Darren, the costs of which have been covered by Rescue NL with the help of donations from the public.
“He now can pass peacefully,” says Hoffe.
