A man who RCMP describe as a ‘prolific offender’ is back in custody facing charges of driving while prohibited and court order breaches.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jesse Lewis was released by the court on June 20th on numerous charges including vehicle theft, robbery, property damage and dangerous driving.
Just a few days later, around 10:30 p.m. on June 26th, RCMP responded to a report of reckless driving in Avondale. Police identified the driver as Jesse Lewis, who was prohibited from being behind the wheel and was on a daily curfew.
Police confirmed that Lewis was not at home, and was in breach of his curfew. Police were unable to locate Lewis or the suspect vehicle at that time.
The next evening Holyrood RCMP located the suspect vehicle in Avondale and saw Lewis behind the wheel. They pulled him over, but Lewis continued to drive forward very slowly.
A second police car pulled in front of the suspect vehicle and Lewis was arrested without incident and taken into custody.
He appeared in court on June 30th on charges of driving while prohibited and five counts of breaching a release order. The other charges are still before the court.
