Members of the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association in St. John’s now have the ability to use helicopters and drones when conducting a search.
The association recently shared the news in the June edition of their national newsletter, and it involves two components.
The completion of the National Helicopter Project, a five-year initiative, is being touted as a “proud and historic moment” for the association.
The St. John’s helicopter crew recently completed an evaluation, and their members are now approved for the use of helicopters.
A similar training program was completed by members in St. John’s involving the use of drones.
Two of their other units, Exploits and Goose Bay, are currently completing the drone training.
