The provincial government says 107 new childcare spaces are either open, or soon will be open, in central Newfoundland.
Education Minister Bernard Davis was in Botwood earlier this week to provide an update on capacity.
The spaces will be spread across five programs in Bishop’s Falls, Bonavista, Botwood, Lewisporte, and Musgravetown.
Two of the programs are for pre-kindergarten.
Recently Davis announced the creation of over 600 new openings on the Avalon.
The minister clarifies that all of the spaces are new, and not “top-ups” from previous announcements.
He says before the latest announcements there were over 11,200 spaces in the province; now that number is closer to 12,000.
