Police work can sometimes expose officers to some pretty unusual situations that may never be repeated.
Such was the case in Placentia this week, when Constable Todd Hussey was called to the Lion’s Manor Nursing Home where a juvenile – and very territorial – bald eagle was blocking the building’s front door.
The bird appeared to be preoccupied with its own reflection in the glass door, but its imposing presence was enough to keep staff and residents indoors.
Wildlife crews were busy working the fire in Conception Bay North, forcing Constable Hussey to channel his “inner wildlife whisperer” to outwit the agitated raptor.
He managed to safely corral the big bird, using a cage typically used for small mammals, much to the amusement and relief of the manor’s staff and residents.
