The provincial government is unable to say whether the current province-wide fire ban will be extended beyond this coming weekend.
The restrictions were put in place as crews battled three major wildfires during what has been an unusually hot and dry summer.
Most of the island is currently at a low fire risk, and the rain, drizzle and fog have returned after an extended period of high temperatures and no precipitation.
Premier John Hogan says they plan to re-evaluate the ban sometime next week.
He says the fire situation could change at any point, and at this time it’s hard to predict what conditions will be like in the next few weeks.
