Many newcomers to the province had the chance to learn hands-on about the democratic voting process for the first time earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the Association for New Canadians held a mock election – complete with a polling office setup, to give their clients a hands-on understanding of how our voting system works.
One of those was Shikeba Azizi, who is from Afghanistan.
She says in Afghanistan they are not free, and it was her first time participating in the voting process.
Azizi calls it an “amazing” experience.
She wants everyone from her homeland to have the same feeling that she has. “I feel free, I feel joy, and I feel very, very happy and excited.”
The results of the ANC’s mock election won’t be released until after the provincial election.
