A driver who tried to evade an RNC checkpoint got more than he bargained for over the long holiday weekend.
Officers involved in an Operation Impact checkpoint on Waterford Bridge Road noticed a vehicle pulling out of the lineup and trying to turn around.
RNC Constable Stephanie Myers says the officers chased it down and laid an impaired charge.
“A chase car was able to track them down and charge them with impaired driving and seize that vehicle,” says Myers. “There’s still people trying to get around safety checkpoints.”
The RNC issued 437 tickets, 14 vehicles were seized, eight licences were suspended and two impaired drivers were taken off the road as a result of Operation Impact over the long Thanksgiving weekend.
