Five Newfoundlanders played an integral role this weekend in helping Canada win a world championship in ball hockey.
The Men’s Masters Ball Hockey Championship was played in Bermuda.
Team Canada defeated Italy, Great Britain, Portugal and Haiti to earn a trip to the semi-finals against the U.S. Scott Doody, Matthew Fewer and Mason Reid were among the scorers for Canada with Fewer being named player of the game.
The two Canadian teams went head-to-head in the final as Fewer had two goals and was named player of the game.
Scott Doody of NL was named tournament MVP, Mike Dyke of NL the best defender, and Fewer an all-star forward.
