Two men are dead and several people are injured following a shooting at one of Toronto’s biggest summer parties Saturday night.
Toronto Salsa on St. Clair, an event that’s part of the wider Salsa in Toronto festival celebrating Latin culture, is meant to be a weekend filled with music and dancing. Instead, scores of people were sent into chaos and panic when shots rang out shortly after 8:00 last night. Nearly thirteen thousand people were attending the event at the time.
Speaking at a news conference, Toronto Police Deputy Chief Frank Barredo explained that there were three separate crime scenes, and that two firearms were found and secured. He also stated that there was an exchange of gunfire between two people who were targeting each other, and there is no current threat to the public.
