As we inch closer to the Christmas holidays, one of the stalwarts on the music scene has memorialized a fellow musician in song.
Mark Hiscock, who was one of the best on the button accordion, left us much too soon. Hiscock, a member of Shanneyganock, died last spring at the age of 53.
The band will proceed with their Christmas concert on December 27 at the Jag Soundhouse, and bandmate Chris Andrews says Mark will be front of mind.
He says everything happened so fast, but they have put the finishing touches on a Christmas song in his memory: “Won’t Be Here This Christmas,” written by Patrick Moran.
“Even though the song is about Mark, it could be about anybody,” says Andrews. “We’re going to miss him, and his family and friends are going to miss him.”
