Ensuring better wages is one way to address the growing affordability crisis being faced by many across the province.
Federation of Labour President Jessica McCormick says that’s where labour unions come in.
“So, how can we improve affordability for working people in Newfoundland and Labrador? Well, it’s to make sure they can take home a good paycheck and have benefits. We can do that by, in the public sector, negotiating good collective agreements,…we can raise the minimum wage, we can make adjustments to income support for the people who really need that.”
