NL Hydro has lifted the Power Warning as electricity system conditions continue to improve on the island.
Officials say all six units at Bay d’Espoir are now fully back in service, significantly stabilizing the system following a challenging weekend. Divers have been working in -25 windchill to clear frazil ice impacting generation. Bay d’Espoir was offline for a portion of the weekend for the first time ever.
A Power Watch remains in place as a precaution due to continued very cold temperatures. Authorities say no action is required from customers at this time, but conditions will continue to be monitored closely in case circumstances change.
Officials are thanking customers for their conservation efforts and crews across the system for their work in restoring and stabilizing power supply.
