The provincial government has announced the recipients of a scholarship program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women achieving the right to vote and hold public office.
One hundred girls in grades 10 through 12 have received $1,000 as part of the program. The awards were presented by women and gender equality minister Lela Evans and Lieutenant Governor Joan Marie Aylward during an event on Friday.
Recipients were selected based on academic performance, demonstrated initiative or passion for leadership, and community contributions and leadership potential.
