The provincial government is encouraging both the ASP and FFAW’s participation in talks to figure out a price for crab.
A planned protest at Confederation Building was put on hold yesterday after Premier Tony Wakeham reached out on the price dispute situation.
In a statement to VOCM News, the department of Government Services, under which the Labour Division lies, says discussions with the FFAW and ASP have been ongoing since the PCs took office in October, and they have been both “constructive and informative.”
While government has no role in the collective bargaining process, it provides assistance in terms of an independent panel facilitator.
Government is encouraging both parties to participate in that process.
