It’s no April Fools joke – parts of the island are in for another helping of snow today.
Schools in the metro region will be closed for the day. Information of closures and cancellations can be found on VOCM’s Storm Watch Page.
The system will bring snow and possibly ice pellets and freezing rain to parts of eastern Newfoundland, Terra Nova and the south coast.
The snow has already started in the southwest and will move east early this morning, hitting the metro region in time for the morning commute.
Environment Canada meteorologist Robert Grove says there will be about 15 cm down by time all is said and done later tonight.
The Avalon, Clarenville and Burin Peninsula can expect 10 to 15 cm, there may be lesser amounts on the southern Avalon as that area may see a mix of ice pellets and freezing rain this afternoon. Other areas impacted by the system are in for 5 to 10 cm.
