A Montreal concert promoter who brought some of the biggest acts to Canada in the 70s and 80s has passed away.
Donald K. Tarlton, more famously known as Donald K. Donald, has passed away at the age of 82.
While based in Montreal, Donald K. Donald was the country’s biggest concert promoter at the time, bringing legendary acts from the Rolling Stones to Queen to the Montreal Forum and beyond.
He co-founded a number of record labels including Aquarius – helping to launch the careers of April Wine, Corey Hart and Sum 41.
Donald K. Donald was also instrumental in bringing Tina Turner to St. John’s at the height of her career in 1985.
He helped to organize her stay in the capital city for nearly two week of rehearsals, and four sold-out concerts, ahead of her massive Private Dancer North American tour.
