The Opposition wants to know what’s in the Bay du Nord benefits agreement that government doesn’t want the public to see.
Liberal Leader John Hogan and energy critic Fred Hutton spoke with reporters earlier this week.
Hogan says when in power, the Liberals “couldn’t have been any more open or transparent,” given the public debate on the Churchill Falls MOU in the House of Assembly.
Hogan says the PCs campaigned on transparency, but are not living up to that promise.
“It’s quite frustrating from an opposition perspective,” says Hogan. “We’re not here to say it’s a bad agreement for the sake of saying it’s a bad agreement. I would love to see the details of that and at the end of the day say, this is good for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and it’s good for the oil and gas sector.”
He claims that “not showing people the document raises extra questions.”
