The provincial government is expanding access to RSV vaccines.
Government has set aside $3.9-million that will make the vaccines available for everyone under 6 months old, and seniors over 75.
That means newborns will be able to get the vaccine before they leave the hospital.
The new coverage is in addition to high-risk groups that were previously identified as being eligible to get the shot free of charge, including adults over the age of 60 in congregate living facilities.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says the expanded immunization program will begin later this year.
She says they are working out the logistics and will be ready to roll out the expanded coverage in the fall.
