The NDP is hosting a panel discussion on restorative justice this evening in St. John’s.

The MHA for St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi, Sheilagh O’Leary, told VOCM Open Line with Brian Callahan they’re bringing together community members, non-profits and experts in the field.

There are a number of panelists who will discuss the justice system, “the social determinants that get people into incarcerated scenarios, and how we can start to turn that around to restorative justice methodology.” She says some of the organizations involved are already implementing those principles into their work.

The event is scheduled for this evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Hub.
