St. John’s city council is going to allow contractors to work on the intersection en route to the airport in the overnight hours.
The intersection at Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive has been under construction for the past couple of years with the end goal being the installation of a roundabout.
Ward councillor Jill Bruce says allowing crews to burn the midnight oil will limit disruptions for commuters and will have minimal impact on nearby residents.
She, who says residents have been very accommodating so far, jokes that drivers have almost mastered the zipper merge.
