It’s a frightening reminder of the importance of having two pilots in the cockpit.
More information is coming to light about an Air Canada flight operated by PAL Airlines that was forced to make an emergency landing after the pilot suffered a medical episode mid-flight.
The flight from Newark Liberty Airport was en route to Halifax Wednesday afternoon when the pilot reportedly suffered a seizure-like episode.
The aircraft’s first officer took over and safely landed the plane at Boston Logan Airport around 1:40 local time.
According to U.S. media outlets, passengers described feeling the plane jolt before witnessing a flight attendant remove the pilot from the cockpit where he was attended to for roughly 40 minutes.
In an email to VOCM News, Massachusetts State Police say the pilot was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
