The MHA for the district in which two people were killed in a moose-motorcycle crash a week ago says lack of maintenance over the past ten years is one of the reasons that such significant roadside growth exists today.

A man and his daughter were killed when their motorcycle struck a moose in Aquaforte Monday evening.

Ferryland MHA Loyola O’Driscoll says his government, which took over from the Liberals last fall, has doubled the budget for brush cutting, but he says they still have to do more.

Transportation Minister Barry Petten says one of the problems is that there are only two or three companies bidding on the tenders for the work.

O’Driscoll says he’s not sure when the clearing will be done.
