A news conference is happening this morning that officials say will mark a “major milestone” in the future of Bell Island.
A little over a week ago the island marked an important milestone in its history – the closure of the mines.
Today, what’s being called a “series of initial strategic investments” will be unveiled which will support young people, education, workforce development, and community resilience.
Representatives say the announcement will have “lasting implications” for the island and “may serve as a model for rural revitalization across Newfoundland and Labrador.”
The event is taking place at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Hall. VOCM News will be there.
