Music fills the air in the heart of St. John’s for the next couple of weekends with the Churchill Park Music Festival – but it also means some road closures in and around the concert venue.
A section of Elizabeth Avenue between Allandale Road and Strawberry Marsh will be closed from 3:00 in the afternoon until midnight tomorrow and Saturday, as well as next Friday and Saturday.
Festival promoter Pete Quinton says the expanded road restrictions will serve a couple of purposes; including improving safety. Recent tragedies, including the deadly attack at the Lapu Lapu Festival in Vancouver, are also on everyone’s mind.
“There will be water-filled barriers on the street so that vehicles cannot get through,” says Quinton. “So we are going to utilize that space to have more flow.”
