The federal government has announced $607 million for a national action plan to end gender-based violence.
Federal minister Rechie Valdez made the announcement yesterday along with her provincial counterparts including NL minister, Lela Evans.
Evans says she expects this province to receive $13-million based on the last round of funding, and hopes to use that money to support programs across the province.
“We have a lot of programming in place that we want to be able to continue to support. And also too is as part of our declaration of gender-based violence epidemic, we do have this task force that’s just started. And we want the task force to work to identify the supports of programming that we as a province need to put in place.”
The federal government also announced $700,000 to fund a crisis support hotline.
