The Town of St. Mary’s hopes to give an update on one of the more unique environmental cleanups you will see.
Dozens of vats of rotting fish sauce are going to be taken away and buried at the disposal site in Sunnyside.
Crews have begun cutting into the tanks in order to get at the hazardous waste, which will then be mixed with peat moss and transported.
Mayor Steve Ryan says there are over a hundred 3000-gallon tanks on site.
“They’re ten or twelve feet high and about six feet across so they’ll be moved out from one part of the building to the other,” says Mayor Ryan.
He hopes to invite media to the town this week for an update.
