The provincial government has accepted a plan by the federal government to demolish a built component of the former Argentia Naval Base.
Public Services and Procurement Canada will remove hazardous materials and demolish existing infrastructure at the former U.S. Navy Recreation Camp in Dunville. That includes eight cabins, seven support buildings and an underground waterline.
Hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead-based paint will be removed.
No new construction is planned, so the site will become a publicly-accessible green space.
