A 61-year-old man from Phillips Head who was prohibited from being behind the wheel has been charged after crashing the vehicle he was driving in Point of Bay on Friday afternoon.
RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor were called to the crash site just north of Point of Bay in the Bay of Exploits, around 3:30 Friday afternoon.
RCMP found the vehicle involved off the road, and open alcohol was found inside.
The driver was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, and a blood demand was made.
RCMP say the man, who was not supposed to be driving, was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a previous charge related to driving while prohibited.
The man is now facing an additional charge of driving while prohibited and police are awaiting lab tests to determine if impaired driving charges are appropriate.
