The federal government is introducing changes to adult passport renewals.

Immigration Minister Lena Diab says renewing a passport should be easy and not difficult, and Ottawa is now allowing eligible Canadians to renew their passports online.

Minister Diab says changes will allow a greater number of Canadians to access the service if applying within Canada.

“We are removing the limit on the number of people who can access this service. That means eligible Canadians will no longer have to wait for an online application spot to become available. They will be able to begin their renewal online whenever it is convenient for them to do so.”

Those who apply online will receive their document within 20 days.
