A new national survey shows that one in six people who voted Liberal in the last federal election are migrating to the NDP as concern about climate change rebounds.
Wildfires burning in Canada, Europe and the U.S. have many people worried about the impact of changing climate – with a 50 per cent increase in the number of Canadians choosing climate change as a top concern according to Angus Reid.

That’s particularly apparent among Canadians under the age of 45.

The pollster says with climate concerns in mind, one-in-six of those who voted Liberal in 2025 (or 15 per cent) now say they would support the NDP.

The number one concern of those asked is the cost of living (60 per cent), followed by health care (at 38 per cent).
Prime Minister Mark Carney’s overall approval rating slipped by nine points to 51 per cent from a high of 60 per cent in February.
