There’s just one day to go until the big finale of the VOCM Cares Block the Bus campaign for back-to-school supplies.
The campaign, which is in support of the Single Parents Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, wraps up tomorrow with a donation drop at the Village Shopping Centre in St. John’s.
Danielle Seaward, the executive director of the Single Parents, says 46 per cent of the children registered to receive a backpack are from outside the metro region. That’s why they do the campaign well before the September bell rings.
She says graph paper, math sets and calculators are always among the items in greatest demand.
“We ship backpacks all over Newfoundland and Labrador, about a thousand of them, so we have been in back-to-school mode since the final bell rang in June,” says Seaward.
VOCM will be live at the Village Shopping Centre from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.
