Final preparations are being made as the town of Gander gets ready to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Exactly one month from today it will be 25 years since the devastating attacks in New York, which killed thousands and reduced the Twin Towers to rubble.

The kindness shown to stranded passengers in the wake of that tragedy has made the town of Gander an important part of the history of 9/11.

Two events are planned. There will be one on September 11th, but there will also be a gathering the night before – at Gander International Airport.

Called “Untold Stories,” it will feature first-hand accounts from the “plane people,” as well as local residents and others.

Mayor Percy Farwell says there are “so many stories” to tell from 9/11, and this is an opportunity tell some of the ones that aren’t as well known.
