Prime Minister Mark Carney has reached out to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz following an attempted Russian drone attack at Leipzig Airport last month.
Germany claims Russia was responsible for the incident on August 4th, in which a drone carrying an explosive device was discovered close to Ukrainian cargo planes.
Germany says the detonator failed, and other drones were subsequently found in the area.
Russian officials call the allegations “absurd.”
Prime Minister Mark Carney calls the attack on a Ukrainian cargo plan on German soil “an egregious attempt by Russia” to weaken western resolve and its collective defence “and it will fail.”
Carney calls Canada’s support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s aggression, “unshakeable.”
He says Canada remains “relentless” in the pursuit of a “just and lasting peace” across Europe.
