The health minister says government is looking at incentive programs and “flexible workforce solutions” to address staffing shortages in the health care system – particularly in rural and remote areas.
The system is facing continued staffing difficulties in many areas, and despite years of trying to find solutions, challenges remain.
Minister Joedy Wall says it’s a priority of government.
“We have many areas in our province that are hard to fill,” says Wall. “We have them in Labrador, we have them on the Northern Peninsula, we have them throughout the province.”
He says they are looking at different incentives, recruitment supports and flexibility to attract more health care workers and keep the people they have.
