Wildlife officials are seeking the public’s help as they investigate a moose poaching incident on the west coast.
The Department of Forestry says officers have responded to two separate complaints in the area of Snooks Pond, on the south shore of the Bay of Islands in the last week.

Both moose – a calf and a bull – appear to have been shot, and left to rot.

Officials believe the incidents likely occurred between September 12th and the 20th.
The maximum penalty for poaching a big game animal is $25,000 for a first offence, with a potential prison term of between one and six months.
