A repeat offender in the Conception Bay North area was sentenced in Harbour Grace provincial court to three years with 331 days credited for time served.

Justin King appeared in court for sentencing yesterday on dozens of charges including break and enter, possession of stolen goods, theft, extortion, forcible confinement and breaches of previous release conditions

King is also subject to a ten-year firearm prohibition, a one-year driving suspension and he must provide a DNA sample.

Cassie Kelloway, whose family home in Salmon Cove was broken into in January became a vocal advocate following the crime – leading the call for greater action to address rising criminal activity in the region.

She read a victim impact statement in the court yesterday.

Kelloway says while she would have liked to have seen a stiffer sentence handed down, she hopes that King emerges from the criminal justice system making better choices.
