The provincial government is expanding the services offered at the Humberwood Treatment Centre in Corner Brook, which offers support for those struggling with addiction.
Government set aside $3.7-million in this year’s provincial budget for the initiative, which is part of a larger $8.2-million that will be doled out over the coming years.
The expansion is expected to happen in phases.
The money will be used to establish four dedicated short-stay beds for people who require same or next-day admission for phase one, and six additional beds to increase in-patient capacity in the second phase.
CORE Engineering is completing the design work for the first phase of the project, which is expected to start this fall. They are also completing a preliminary scope of work for the second phase.
