Premier Tony Wakeham has spoken with newly elected Quebec Premier Paul St-Pierre Plamondon.
The Parti-Quebecois leader previously called the Churchill Falls agreement a “cut-rate deal, (signed) at the eleventh hour.”
He’s since changed his tone, indicating he would bring the deal before the Quebec National Assembly.
Wakeham says their conversation focused on access to health care and the Churchill Falls agreement.
“I didn’t get any sense from the Quebec Premier that he was interested in tearing anything up or doing anything. Clearly, as somebody who knows about transitioning, he’s going through that process now and he will hear from his people from Hydro-Québec,” he told reporters.
“He actually told me in a text that (we’ll) talk again soon.”
