With Halloween just around the corner, many “spooky season” lovers are putting out their decorations – but few are as dedicated as Jamie and Karen MacKenzie of Newfoundland Drive.
Since 2020, every October the couple creates unique decoration displays on their front lawn with their ever-growing skeleton crew. A different scene for every day of the month.

They post the daily shenanigans on their Facebook page Spirits of Newfoundland Drive, and last week they created a scene inspired by Netflix’s new show Below that really took off on social media.
They started this year with about 200 followers, and from this season alone they are now almost at 400.
“Below was the most popular so far this year,” says Jamie.
It really boosted their numbers and he said it was fun to see all the positive feedback it received.
On Sunday, their display was a request from their neighbour to raise awareness for diabetes.

Karen says their neighbor across the street has a grandson who has diabetes, and he comes to see the skeleton display every day.
“That was a suggestion that they made, to do something about diabetes, not only for the kids who still love Halloween but can’t do all the candy, but for the fact that they’re just getting recognized as well.”
