We’re getting into that time of year when we need extra protection against the elements, but not everyone can afford winter outerwear.
Newfoundland Power is teaming up with the VOCM Cares Foundation again this year for the annual Coats for Kids campaign.
From now until Friday, donations of new or gently used winter wear can be dropped off at any one of Newfoundland Power’s offices across the province.
Communications Officer with utility, Glenda Power, told Open Line with Brian Callahan that despite the name, they will be collecting adult winter gear as well.
Power says they are looking for; gently used or new coats, snow pants, hats, mittens, scarves and winter boots.
“We’ll collect those and the in partnership with VOCM Cares, make sure that those items get to those in need.”
Donations will be distributed in the area they are collected. The VOCM Cares Foundation will also be running a free pop-up shop at the Village Shopping Centre within the coming weeks.
