New legislation related to immigration may be on the agenda when the House of Assembly opens next week.
The minister responsible, Lin Paddock, says they have a couple of items that they will be bringing forward.
Paddock says some of Newfoundland and Labrador’s policies are behind in comparison to other provinces.
Earlier this year, he says they did pan-province engagement on immigration to ensure there are protections in place for foreign workers. “So you’re going to see some positive changes there to ensure that we help newcomers coming into our province.”
Paddock notes that the legislation moving forward during the fall sitting is not a guarantee, and it all depends on the order in which matters are called in the House.
