As of March 2nd, the community clinics in Postville, Makkovik, and Rigolet will no longer be dispensing long term prescriptions.
The changes are due to standards of practice set out by the NL Pharmacy board and the College of Registered Nurses NL.
Such changes have already taken place in Nain and Hopedale.
To have a prescription renewed an appointment must be made one month in advance at the clinic.
Clients are asked to choose a community pharmacy to transfer any active prescriptions to, pickup/delivery and payment options can also be discussed at these pharmacies.
Labrador-Grenfell Health will keep a small supply of medications on hand for use if they are required on short notice. The clinics will also continue to provide acute-care medications.
